We have two smaller dogs, 13 and 14 pounds. They both loved to chew on these bones. They would chew for hours--until there was nothing left! Then one day one of them got sick. Within 36 hours he was gone! We are devastated! A piece of nylabone broke off and lodged in his intestine. It did not show up on X-Rays since it is a plastic substance. I have 4 German Shepherds and every night they all lay down chewing their nylabones. I've bought them for years and all my dogs over the years seem to chew on them to relax. It keeps 4 big active dogs quiet in the house and I feel they're much safer than many chew toys. The only disadvantage I've seen was years ago when I had a 10 year old crack 2 teeth. After having them removed, he wouldn't settle down at night without his Nylabones, so I eventually gave them back to him after his gums heeled. Once again, he was a happy dog!
