We got this for our Dachshund and it appears to be very sturdy. If you move it, the legs will twist a little so it is not quite level. However, this can be easily and quickly adjusted. This is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.
The bed is a little bigger than I anticipated, so you may want a smaller one if you have a Shihtzu, Dachshund, Schnauzer, etc. My little Pluto gets on it easily and watches his squirrels as he sunbathes. I have already bought a replacement cover, as I was worried one might not be available in 2 years, like with the last outdoor pet bed we bought. Although they are good quality, I doubt any fabric that is comfortable enough to lie on can withstand summer sun and winter ice for too long. The blue is the nicest color in my opinion, but I could only get the replacement in green.

This is the second Coolaroo raised dog bed we have purchased. We had to exchange this one as the cover was too short. However, Amazons' customer service was outstanding and prompt. No complaint at all! When the exchange arrived, the screws were missing! I called Coolaroo and again was given wonderful, fast service. The screws arrived in a few days. With Amazon and Coolaroo giving such nice responses, I wouldn't hesitate to order again. Our pets use the beds all the time and we feel they live up to the claims made for them.

We have two adopted huskies and though we keep our house cold, they prefer it even slightly chillier, so these beds are perfect for them. We keep them in our bedroom on top of carpet and I sewed custom cotton sheet covers for them to make them more attractive AND because I couldn't clean off the muddy tracks completely by just wiping them down (our dogs have unlimited access to our large yard via doggie door most of the time). I even tried to clean them with detergent but not much luck. So with the cotton fitted sheets, I just toss them in the wash and voila, all is beautiful again.

I have what you would call a "hot dog." He is always hot and pants a lot. I have bought many "water bed" type beds for him over 10 years. This K&H Cool Bed 3 is my first K&H brand "water bed" I ever bought (I have bought other brands & have not been happy with them). I am very pleased with it! The bed is strong and I have not had any leaks like my previous dog "water bed" products. I highly recommend this bed for all those "hot" pets out there.

Rocky is our ten year old part poodle, part who knows what, that is the most loved neighborhood dog in the world! Kids come from far and wide to visit with him as he sits in our front yard every morning under our Camelia bush. A couple of years ago he was diagnosed with Cushings Disease. It is also known as hyperadrenocorticism which is the condition that results from the chronic overproduction of glucocorticoid in the body. Symptoms are panting, drinking excessively, urinating excessively, eating excessively, weight gain and I could go on and on. We could not find anything to make him comfortable until my daughter found the K&H Cool Bed 3 on amazon.com. I have got to tell you that this bed has absolutely saved his life! He LOVES it and spends most of his day on it. We're able to put ice cubes in it because the valve opening is big enough so mixed with the water it is absolutely heaven for him. The cooler the bed the happier he is and the fact that it's like floating on water which means less resistant against his tired old body makes him all the more happy! One reviewer spoke about gel in the bed. There is no gel so I'm not sure what they're referring to. There is a sponge like foam that lines the inside, you can see it when you look into the valve opening and that becomes part of the cushioning of the bed once you fill it with water. If you move the bed once it is filled with water, I might add that is extremely difficult, the foam could get folded over but if you manipulate the bed for awhile you can get the foam to lay flat again. It helps to know what you're working with! Anyway, I can't say enough about this bed but I do know that it's making whatever time Rocky has left in this world the most comfortable he could possibly be. Thank you, thank you K&H!

I have a bernese mountain dog who loves his cool bed. The bolster sheet has been very helpful in keeping the plug in the bed as he is prone to pull it out and flood my living room if left to his own devices. The sheet is linen and while the bolster is somewhat wimpy, my 120 pound pup can rest his head comfortably and that was what I was going for.

Love the bed itself; however, this bolster shrinks even when using cold water and hanging to dry. Mine will not fit the bed at all now. Additionally, the zipper broke right off when I tried to replace the pillow into the shrunken pocket. Save your money.

I have an older Shepherd with a fair amount of arthritis. At night he used to get into the shower cubicle to keep cool - but I was concerned that the floor was too hard for him. So I purchased the K&H Cool Bed 3 Large Cool Cover Bolster Sheet, Cappuccinoand he loves it! He also seemed to be less stiff in the morning. The bolster is a little flimsy and one of better quality would improve the product a great deal.
