Customer Experience and Opinions

Elevated Pet Beds, March 10 ,2010
Teresa Willis (Destin, FL) believes that:
This product is best on market! Use them thruout kennels - both for our boarders and adoptive pets we have rescued from euthanasia. Covers withstand the toughest of punishment!

Great bed, & cat loves it!, March 06 ,2010
Lyanne E. Hoefer reveals that:
My Shepard never gets a chance to lie in it, as the cat is always in it! And set up took about 5 minutes.

Coolaroo elevated pet bed - medium, March 05 ,2010
Audrey O. (College Station, TX) reveals that:
We got this for our Dachshund and it appears to be very sturdy. If you move it, the legs will twist a little so it is not quite level. However, this can be easily and quickly adjusted. This is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.
The bed is a little bigger than I anticipated, so you may want a smaller one if you have a Shihtzu, Dachshund, Schnauzer, etc. My little Pluto gets on it easily and watches his squirrels as he sunbathes. I have already bought a replacement cover, as I was worried one might not be available in 2 years, like with the last outdoor pet bed we bought. Although they are good quality, I doubt any fabric that is comfortable enough to lie on can withstand summer sun and winter ice for too long. The blue is the nicest color in my opinion, but I could only get the replacement in green.

Customer Experience and Opinions

Handy & easy to use, February 10 ,2010
Teresa Stidham (Stanton, Ky) reveals that:
I have 3 pet beds and have recommended them to many friends. We love it and the dogs love it. Puppies will chew on the covers but, the adult dogs won't. This is why have replacement covers is so handy! I foster dogs and they all love the beds!

Best Dog Bed Ever, February 08 ,2010
D. Taylor (Jupiter, FL) tells us:
We've had at least one dog at a time for more than 35 years and have tried many beds, pillows, baskets, etc. We discovered Coolaroo beds several years ago and they are the best by far. Every dog has loved them (four since we started using them) and from an owner's standpoint, they are great. They are clean (and easy to keep clean), odor-free, good for preventing calluses and great for older dogs' joints. We have even started giving as gifts; we got three for our son and daughter-in-law for Christmas. One note, our dogs have always been pretty large breed - Lab & Rottweiler ranging from 50 to 90 pounds and the only size Coolaroo we have ever used is Medium. Would not go to Large except 90 pounds ++ or to Extra Large for anything smaller than a pony.

 Exact..., February 06 ,2010
Rob (Fulshear, Tx) thinks:
Exact replacement for the one my dog ate... yep... ate (well, not the entire thing).

Customer Experience and Opinions

Great idea, but.....Not so cool, October 04 ,2009
Alana Greenfield (Fort Worth, TX) believes that:
This pet bed will not lock into place so it lifts in the middle. My dog wanted nothing to do with it.

Hard to keep unfolded, August 25 ,2009
Mink Creek (Intermountain West) suggests that:
I bought this bed for an extended camping trip in order to keep my dog up off the ground. My dog and I had rejected other models as they did not keep her off the ground. While I was not happy with the design of this bed, I kept it and we used it because it was the only option we could find. Two things are really wrong with this bed.

1. The cover fits too tightly to allow the cot to maintain its unfolded status. Pushing the cot into the level, open position was very difficult. When you did get the frame into the open position, as soon as you took your hand off of it, back it sprang into a partially open position. It would be very easy to hurt your hand trying to push the cot open. We ended up keeping the zipper about 3/4 of the way zipped in order to reduce the tension of the cover on the frame. The cover sagged on that end so we had to be careful to turn that side to the back. My dog is 50 pounds. A larger dog might have "hit bottom" with the zipper this way.

2. The leg mechanism drove us crazy! Every time you unfolded the legs on one end and tried to adjust the legs on the other end the first end folded up. The middle legs were either too far in one direction or the other. If we moved the cot even a few inches it was the whole battle to set it up again. We developed a technique of opening the bed with one person on each end holding the legs out at the required angle with one then kicking the middle legs into place and dropping it on the ground one end at a time with someone holding down the middle to keep the cot from refolding.

All of that said, the cot did provide the "off the ground," yet expensive, spot I wanted for my dog. We managed the camping trip with this being one more of the "technical" thing we learned--things like priming the Coleman stove and putting up the tent. As we have been tent camping 30+ years, it seemed like learning a new thing was not enough to keep us all from enjoying the trip. I will keep the bed, and expect to use it but not to ever really befriend it.

Just received this item today, June 24 ,2009
April (CA) tells us:
I just received this item after ordering it in-store through the Bed, Bath & Beyond. I thought I was getting the green steel-frame but instead received the collapsible beige one (which is much more expensive and not necessary as I do not plan on traveling with the bed). Initially I could not get the bed to straighten out. Every time I would push down on the middle of the frame it would immediately pop back up; I ended up smashing the tip of my finger. I have a 95lb american bulldog who was all too eager to jump on the bed once I finally got it straight and could step out the door with it. After her initial excitement, I tried to move the bed to her "resting" area, and once again it bent up in the middle and the front legs folded up underneath the bed. I finally got the bed straight again, but have reservations about the fact that it has moving parts. In addition to the legs in the four corners, it also has two legs in the center. I am glad to have the extra support, however there is nothing to keep the legs from folding under again when the bed is scooted forward or backwards. Aside from the fickle middle section and the easy-to-dislodge legs, I would say that this bed has promise as a way to keep my dog comfortable and off of the floor (Currently she is laying on the floor next to the bed - she still needs to get used to it). Most importantly, it cannot be chewed up into a million pieces of fluff the way a regular dog bed could (although I am worried about her finding out there are straps on the bottom of the bed and chewing on those). Ultimately, if you do need a bed that folds up small and travels well and your dog is not going to run and leap onto the bed, then this would be a good choice.
