We got this for our Dachshund and it appears to be very sturdy. If you move it, the legs will twist a little so it is not quite level. However, this can be easily and quickly adjusted. This is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.
The bed is a little bigger than I anticipated, so you may want a smaller one if you have a Shihtzu, Dachshund, Schnauzer, etc. My little Pluto gets on it easily and watches his squirrels as he sunbathes. I have already bought a replacement cover, as I was worried one might not be available in 2 years, like with the last outdoor pet bed we bought. Although they are good quality, I doubt any fabric that is comfortable enough to lie on can withstand summer sun and winter ice for too long. The blue is the nicest color in my opinion, but I could only get the replacement in green.

I have two semi-feral cats who live in my backyard. They are quite hardy, but the really cold days of our Northeastern winters can be tough on them. These heated pads create a little oasis of warmth that have become the cats' favorite spot. The pads are just the right size for one cat, so when I had only one pad, there was a constant conflict about who would get the prime territory. Now with 2 pads, both cats stay warm and happy. The only down side is that the pads do seem to require quite a bit of electricity since my power bill has definitely gone up since I hooked up the pads. But I think it is worth when I see the kitties sleeping peacefully in the middle of a blowing snowstorm.

i purchased this for my small dog a corgie fox terrior for his dog house outside. I touched the pad and it's luke warm and doesn't seem to be really putting off that much heat. I think he enjoys the pad though b/c it's cold outside and he lays on it inside the dog house eventhough he does have a pet bed in there as well. From all the reviews read i thought it would be alot warmer. The cover that comes with it is pretty much worthless it easily tears.
